Which light sources does exist?

Usually we divide lighting sources on professional and common ones, because professional are intended to be "ON" all time long and common are for frequent "ON" "OFF" situations. Common sources are incandescent (classical bulb), halogen, compact fluorescent (saving bulb), fluorescent tubes and LED. They differ on size, price, life time, color of light, temperature emission, number of switching cycles and so on. The longest life span and the lowest energy consummation has the LED but at the same time it has the highest price.

What's the difference between warm and cold light?

Warm light is result of lighting emission from 2500 to 3200 Kelvins while cold one is something above 5000 K. In short, warm light stimulates relaxation and rest while cold light stimulates attention and concentration. From the other hand, cold light is suitable in all the ambients where high level of limpidity is needed. Cold light inhibits the melatonine (sleeping hormone) emission so it is harder to relax and sleep under such a light. The medium lighting temperature is from 3500 to 4500 Kelvin and is suitable for offices, kitchens, bathrooms and pools.

What type of light has to be put in the living room?

Living room is the place for our rest, relaxation, nap, warm social communication, reading and all other activities that are somehow slow. It is strongly suggested that living room should be equipped by several smaller lighting sources (luminaries), that would represent candles all around. Even close to the TV set, you should put some small luminaire to prevent "tunnel effect" while watching the TV.

What are the main parameters of bathroom lighting?

Bathroom is the place of elevated humidity, so we should prevent electric shock by putting protected luminaries in. There's a rule that over and in closest surroundings of shower and other elevated water sources, the luminaries should have the highest protection (expressed in IP mark), and a bit lower in other parts of bathroom. The electric sockets should be well protected by cover and gasket.

How to illuminate the kitchen to have best conditions?

Kitchen is the room for demanding work so it should be well lit! Our suggestion is to put some linear LED lighting under the upper cabinets, a part from general lighting. Only then one should be satisfied with his lighting conditions while preparing food or cleaning the dishes.

What is the main difference between classical bulb, compact fluorescent bulb and LED?

There are many differences between those three lighting sources, but the main differences are size, price, energy consumption, number of possible switching cycles, heat emission and life span. Our suggestion is to switch to LED, even if we know that for the moment they have the highest price. Their forms (from single point source up to the long line), lower energy consumption (less the 1 / 5 in relation with classical bulb) and life span (almost 20 years) are the main reasons for this suggestion. However, combination with some modern halogen sources with intricate filament design might be the best choice.

Which LED bulbs should I buy for my home?

Our suggestion is to remain with well known producers of lighting sources, since they declare real technical data for their products. In short, our tip is to use linear LED system under the kitchen cabinets (upper ones) and eventually on the lowered ceilings in the living room, while all the rest should be equipped with LED bulbs.

Can all light sources be substituted by LED?

Definitely YES! It is up to the investor and lighting designer what type of LED source one should use. Consider different types and shapes of LED sources for different areas, as suggested before.

Does it make sense to change fluorescent tube with LED tube?
